GMG Continues to Expand to the Detroit Lakes Area with Final Installation Highly Dependent on Easements Along Private Roads!

Greater Minnesota Gas, Inc. (GMG) will be attending the Pelican Lake Property Association Member Spring Social meeting on Friday, May 19th to provide an update on the 2017 project. This project includes installation along the north side of the lake, County Highway 20 along the south side of Pelican Lake. There are many private roads on the south side of Pelican Lake where GMG is proposing to install natural gas. It is important that an easement is granted to allow for the installation of the main for properties that are impacted along private roads. If you have received an easement packet and are willing to give GMG access, please return your easement immediately so that we are able to move ahead with construction crew planning. We will have a notary present at the meeting on 5/19 for your convenience. For property owners who live along the main that has been installed in 2015 and 2016 and are interested in switching to natural gas, we are already installing service line. We have received several calls regarding restoration from the 2016 construction season. Please be advised that our restoration crews are ready to once again assess and restore in the right-of-way from 2016 installations. We will work hard to make sure that the areas disturbed both last year and this year are returned to satisfactory condition. If you have a concern, please call us to let us know. Remember that the final route and installation is contingent upon the approval of all necessary permits and easements, the direction by Otter Tail Highway Department for the Highway 9 project and in certain areas, the level of commitment to service.

Make an Appointment. We will schedule an appointment to meet with our sales team who will design your service and give you a quote on the cost of installation.

Contact a Plumbing & Heating Contractor. You will want to get a quote(s) on the cost to convert or buy new appliances. GMG offers rebates to help offset these cost. Click here to learn more about rebates.

Locate Private Utilities. Be prepared to point out any private utilities such as invisible dog fences or sprinkler systems. If you need assistance visit www.gopherstateonecall.org for a list of local companies.

Contact Your Current Fuel Supplier. If you are currently heating with propane or fuel oil and you have decided to switch to natural gas be sure to contact your current supplier and ask them about their pump out and removal process.
